The Stelline Foundation is an historic institution in Milan established in 1986 by the Lombardy Region and the City of Milan, organizing and promoting projects, exhibitions, research, publishing and actions for contemporary and 20th century art.
The Stelline Foundation plays its role as Coordinator for the network of Museums and Art Collections in Lombardy and for the project Lombardia Arte Contemporanea, also managing the website www.artecontemporanealombardia.it, which has been totally renovated in 2010; promotes an action coordinated and supported by Lombardy Region, networking with the exhibition programs of the City and the Province of Milan, and is the seat of a Congress Centre andplace of communication, fashion, technology, science and information for regional and national territory. More than three hundreds organized events among art shows, exhibitions and meetings from its foundation till today.
The cultural programme includes international art shows, pubblications, research project, training courses, workshops and conventions. 
Major art exhibitions of high quality and impact have been devoted in recent years to major artists of the 20th (Arturo Martini, Marc Chagall, Picasso, Mario Sironi, F.T. Marinetti, Rousseau, Carlo Carrà, Ottone Rosai, Ardengo Soffici), to international contemporary artists (Tony Cragg, Mario Schifano, Gabriele Basilico, Valerio Berruti, Leonard Freed, Marlene Dumas) and new talents in Italy and abroad (Beauty not/so Difficult, The city of Leonardo, Looking for the border, Dreams of a possible city, United Artists of Italy, Twister, Praise of Semplicity).
